Privacy Policy
YearDiary is built on a simple belief: your journal is yours. We designed the app for iPhone, iPad and Mac from the ground up to keep your data private, secure, and entirely under your control. This Privacy Policy explains what information the YearDiary app and this website (yeardiary.com) collect, how it is used, and the rights you have.
1. Who we are
YearDiary (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the provider of the YearDiary application and this website. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at contact@yeardiary.com.
2. Your journal entries
YearDiary does not collect, transmit, store or process your journal entries on any servers we own or operate. Everything you write (text, photos of handwritten pages, and any other content) is stored locally on your device and, if you choose to enable it, in your personal iCloud account.
We have no access to your entries. We cannot read them, search them, analyse them, or share them with anyone.
3. iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud under your own Apple ID and is synced between your Apple devices by Apple. This data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and is encrypted in transit and at rest. We do not have access to your iCloud data and we are not able to recover it on your behalf.
4. No account required
YearDiary does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or set up a password with us. You can start writing immediately. Because there is no account, we hold no login credentials or personal profile about you.
5. Analytics & diagnostics
We may receive anonymous, aggregated usage and crash data through Apple’s built-in App Store and App Analytics tools, for example, how many people open the app or which app version is in use. This information cannot be used to identify you and contains no journal content. You can opt out of sharing analytics with developers at any time in your device’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
6. Purchases
If YearDiary offers paid features, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple shares only the information necessary to deliver and manage your purchase. Refer to Apple’s policies for how your payment data is handled.
7. This website
This website does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising. We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how many people visit the site. No personally identifiable information is collected. See our Cookie Policy for details.
8. Children’s privacy
YearDiary is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Your rights
Because your data lives only on your device and in your own iCloud, you are always in full control. You can edit or delete any entry at any time, and deleting the app (and clearing its iCloud data) removes your content. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; since we do not hold your personal data, most requests can be fulfilled directly on your device.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
11. Contact
If you have any questions about privacy, please contact us at contact@yeardiary.com.
